
Julie Ellen "Tawny" Kitaen (August 5 1961 - May 7 2021) was an American actress, model and a media personality. She started her career as an actor on television, acting in the TV films Malibu (1983), California Girls (1985). She also played Gwendoline, a comedienne in the Land of the Yik-Yak (both 1984) as well as Bachelor Party (1985). Kitaen has gained a wide recognition for her work in numerous heavy metal music videos including Ratt's (1984) "Back for More", Whitesnake ?Ts ("Still of the Night") and Whitesnake ?Ts ("Is This Love") (all 1987). In the late 2000s, Kitaen started appearing in reality television series, such as Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2008) that highlighted Kitaen's struggles with substance abuse. Julie Kitaen was born in San Diego, California, in 1961. Kitaen is the eldest of three children to Linda Kitaen (nee Taylor) who was a housewife as well as a contestant in a beauty contest once, and Terry Kitaen. Kitaen works in a neon sign business. Kitaen's mother, who was from Irish as well as Scottish descent was married to Terry Kitaen (an employee of a company that made neon signs). Her father was Russian-Jewish. Kitaen was raised Jewish. She started using the name "Tawny" at the age of 12 on her own initiative. She suffered from dyslexia as a young person and was eventually kicked out of Mission Bay High School. [7] At the age of 14, with backstage passes following the Peter Frampton concert at Balboa Stadium,[8] she witnessed the privileges offered to Frampton's lover Penny and wanted to be a part of the same for herself.
